Would you have time later to smell some meat?

So I realize that this blog has gone from adventures in Korea to Mel's party page but whatever I will get the tourist thing going again probably soon. Maybe.

Another double hitter. Friday I met up with Martyn, Cass, Sophie, Karen and neck tattoo (I forgot his name) in Hongdae for some fun. It was a usual night maybe a little slow to be honest and very low on the talent. Some amusing things that happened. Including these conversations..

- Hongdae Park "Do you come here often?"

- A super drunk guy sitting on the street getting patted on the back by a cop. In Canada this is called drunk tank time.

- "Are you Korean?" directed at me. I don't know, are you blind? I pretended I didn't hear him.

- A man with Jimmy from South Park style crutches and blonde Weird Al hair grinding hard with a Korean girl.

- A guy fell down the stairs, and was knocked out. Martyn and I laughed until the doormen pick him up and there is a giant river of blood. His friend tried to carry him away not realizing how bad his injury is while some hero yelled at him about how bad of a friend he was ending on "if you were my friend I would kill you". Then the injured guy woke up and started swinging at everyone.

- Douche with a faux hawk winking at me. First response "OMG, this is happening" turned away. Second response, "is this a joke?" worst look on my face. Him "no". Running the second time. An aside to this guy Martyn pulled a robbery on him not to long ago only after making him act a fool and revealing his line of "I live 5 minutes from here."

- Various questions about meat smelling between Martyn and me.

We ended off the night with karaoke and a kebab.

Please note graffiti in the back. You know I did/will.

I slept on Martyn's floor, dreamt of my cats and made Dre 3 hours late for the tattoo convention by waking up late and getting us so lost. I genuinely still feel bad.

Tattoo convention was alright. I was not feeling nice and there was nowhere to sit. Also I would like to rename it men with bad bods showing their goods. Views...

This picture was hard to get cause boys are too cool for school, but I felt we should commemorate the occasion. The stranger that took this picture did a terrible job.

Then we wanted a burger and settled for McDick's? The price was nice. Then we took a cab to a club with a huge line up for a this? We got in for an even nicer price.

There were a lot of people and it was loud and there were lasers which at one point I said were beautiful? Part true (the fog of cigarette smoke created a lovely design) but mostly joking but I said it to Phil who doesn't know the depth of my silly. Drinks were $10 a piece so we went to the corner store for drinks.

As any club in Asia it was filled with guys in suits. Ummmm... so I made my own fun by dancing silly with new friends and letting suits buy me drinks and running away. Eventually I was dancing alone and a lovely lady danced with me. Her friends gave me glowsticks and cigarettes. Eric used the glowsticks while I just threw them at people. I considered getting sillier with bottles but the glowstick thing didn't go over so well, instead I found a friends bank card on the ground.

At 4am we went to eat then waited for the bus. Dre, Wan, Martyn, Daesup and Eric!

I ended off the weekend with a meal with Stephen Toedter. He didn't believe that I could double stair the 9 floors at work so we made a bet. I do it 2-3 times a day so those pine nuts are all mine.

Tuesday this number called me 010-8728-8422 called me 7 times in a row, who are you and when is that ever a normal thing to do. Then I went shopping and also got Taco Bell. I ended up with 3 polka dotted items? I also bought my Europe book and started planning. People keep asking when I am coming home and I really don't know. The only thing I have committed to is that I will be in Winnipeg spring 2012 to see my little brother graduate. Otherwise I am going to travel for as long as I can and after that too. Choosing life.

Is it possible to be too friendly?

World DJ Festival

There was actually nothing else to do. I looked. No shows nothing. Many friends were in Busan for the long weekend. So I put out my feelers and a new lady friend Leanda that I met last weekend was going and I asked if I could go with. Everyone was rad and we had roadies on the long subway. Approaching view. Inside it was designed like a maze?

Introducing Team Zebra. Charlotte and I hit it off but she is leaving today. The saddest but thats life here. We took many walks and chatted hard.

I ran into Thomas who I had also met last week at MWG trying to calm Chase down. We talked about how happy Korean hip hop (not into it) was and how the Black tent (yeah really I feel like anywhere else that would be considered racist) turned into the sleeping tent.

I lost the crew so I spent some time freaking out and texting them. I eventually found everyone though. Thank you technology. I imagine you are having a fun time in your life but how about a retarded time? With fireworks?

Team Zebra reunion minus Charlotte?

I met up with Thomas again and some new friends Didi, Joseph, Thibault, Fugiwara and some others who's names I can't remember cause their names are Korean. We hung out and then Thomas was MCing for Fugiwara so we went backstage... I danced on the stage cause some guy asked me to with him and then there were too many people and it wasn't special anymore so I left. Team Zebra checked in on me but I told them it was okay to leave me. A view from the other side.

We took the subway home but jumped them fence to the KTX and immediately got busted and tried to hide in the bathroom. Then we just had to sit in the snack bar. No actual punishment. Hiding in the bathroom...

Friday the 13th

.

I went to Seoul some of my new friends were playing at MWG. While on the bus to Seoul I realized that due to the fact that all of my texts were failing that I clearly was out of money on my phone. BUMMER. MWG was fun and I danced

A "friend" said I could stay at his house which was a bit of a mess however it was the swankest apartment I have been at thus far. The view and the courtyard.

I spent the morning trying to get money on my phone only to find out it was impossible on the weekend. I bought a giant purple backpack cause it was hot and I had too many layers for carrying. I met up with Chris and Katie in Hongdae. Chris and I only meet up in the largest of cities now. Last time I saw him we were at a Crystal Stilts show in NYC and we happened to run into each other. This time was a little more planned but still. Katie found the nicest leather jacket for me. I know that she will find her own perfect jacket or bag soon for this incredible good deed.

We ate a millet pancake, drank mokoli, Katie got weirded out by a gross mole toucher, Chris got chopstick lessons, and we got lost. Back in Hongdae we parted ways and I am stoked for the next time I see them.

I was off to Charlotte's go away in Itaewon. She is the best and I am sad she left. The bar we were at was like a beach! Sand and all. We shared Korean man stories and I met some new friends.

Then off to Hongdae to meet up with Melissa and Sophia. They were way ahead of me in terms of drinks and I needed money to catch up which took too long. We couldn't stay at garage cause there was an undesirable man there and FF had a cover. MWG had one too but I had a stamp from the day before. I ran into friends there and was chatting and I lost the girls. I borrowed a phone they were okay but at FF and I told them to text when they were leaving and we would go to the jimjjilbong together. So I danced and had fun but they never called. Ran into Chase and my fav Koreans. Check the jacket and giant backpack.

Then I made the mistake of following some Koreans from Busan to eat and soju started and the sun was up and I definitely got sick moments before or after these pictures were taken.

Still killing it.

At least I'm not this guy

The next day I had a breakfast of 2 juices, 2 coffees and 3 cigarettes. I felt okay for a long time but then very bad. I ate Burger King then went to dance class where I tried to explain I partied too hard to my teacher but he didn't understand and still forced me to work... maybe he did understand.

5 May 2011

terrible or amazing, never boring.

2 weeks ago I went to a baseball game! Here are some photos Jon Wetmore took of it.

It was Riley's birthday and many men were there and Martyn got noisemakers but let me use them the whole time. He is the best! It was fun and every player has their own special song and dance.

Then I drank again around Cam and acted like a weirdo. I don't understand it but it stopped so who cares.

I had a nice egg sandwich with Martyn and then walked for an hour just cause it was nice out and then went home.

Last weekend I met up with Russ for art and sights and Cass for a ladies night.

Juergen Teller

Seodaemun Prison

Shout out to Russ for always knowing what is going on and letting me join! He is also the best! also for this photo of all the Korean rebels.

Then I headed to Itaewon for dinner with the ladies. Cass, Alma and Sophie. Then to Hongdae where I also met up with new friends Melissa and Leanda. We had a drink then went to Karaoke! It had free ice cream! Things got a little wild. PS I look like "Like a Virgin" Madonna whoops!

Then the girls went to hooka for a bit and I met up with Martyn, Chase, 한준영 and 김두영 at the park. First attempt they dropped me...

Things got a little creepy...

Dancing in the streets, you know how I do...

Handeupone blowing up or just talking to a cool dude out of military training or Cass. IDK.
